The Carolina Panthers needed a win against a depleted Philadelphia Eagles team, and Tommy Tremble delivered. The tight end found the end zone twice in Sunday’s 25-14 victory at Lincoln Financial Field. This performance puts him in the spotlight right next to veteran Darren Waller. According to Yahoo Sports, Tremble caught four passes for 46 yards, hitting the mark on every target from Bryce Young.

This game showed a clear shift in how the offense uses its tight ends. Tremble scored on a 12-yard catch in the second quarter and a 19-yard grab late in the fourth. His two scores helped seal the deal when the Eagles tried to mount a comeback. Sole ownership of the NFC South first place spot and a 3-2 season record now belong to the Panthers thanks to that victory.

A New Threat in the Red Zone

Before Sunday, Darren Waller was the main guy for touchdowns in the red zone. Now, Tremble has proven he can be a reliable option too. Yahoo Sports notes that Waller was always expected to be a touchdown-dependent player this year, usually catching passes from closer range than Tremble did on Sunday. However, Tremble’s 19-yard score shows he can stretch the field when needed. The Panthers’ offense is throwing more than expected, which gives players like Tremble a chance to shine in a pinch.

It is important to remember that Tremble’s big day might be a peak performance rather than a new normal. Although targeted four times across three consecutive weeks, he only notched his initial two touchdowns of the season during that stretch. The article from Yahoo Sports warns fans not to count on him catching two touchdowns every single week. The offense remains crowded with talent ahead of him, including wide receivers Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker, plus running back Chuba Hubbard.

Defense Steps Up in Key Moments

While the offense made headlines with Tremble’s scores, the defense also played a huge role in the win. The Panthers held the Eagles to just 222 total yards and limited them to 3.6 yards per play. This rebound follows a terrible start to the season where the team allowed 59 points and six rushing touchdowns to the Chicago Bears. Since that Week 1 disaster, the defense has ranked second in scoring defense and fifth in yards per play, according to Yahoo Sports.

Starting cornerbacks Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson missing the last two games makes this improvement even more impressive. Defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero deserves credit for getting the unit to bounce back so quickly. The team now looks like a formidable foe, a change that hasn’t been true for the Panthers in a long time. Their power ranking has jumped from 21st to 17th after this convincing win over a playoff contender.

Bryce Young Chasing History

Quarterback Bryce Young is also making his mark on the franchise record books. In the victory, he completed 20 of 39 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns. This brings his season total to 1,549 passing yards through five games. Yahoo Sports reports that at this pace, Young is on track to break Steve Beuerlein’s 1999 franchise record for most passing yards in a single season by over 800 yards.

Winning results followed and the running game opened up due to his success. With the team trending up and the offense firing on all cylinders, the Panthers are looking like the class of the NFC South. The next challenge comes on Sunday, Oct. 25, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit Bank of America Stadium.
